dos and donts

     The people of Ephraim saw God’s Word as a list of “do’s and don’ts.” Their refuge was in keeping the rules. However, they didn’t listen to God. God warned them of judgement, that he would correct their wrong thinking.

       Religion is useless. All it does is keep people in bondage to works. Works without faith are useless. Religion causes men to stumble because they can’t keep the law. That is why Jesus came to become righteousness and make us right before God.

      When people follow religion and think that brings them closer to God, they are sadly mistaken. It actually binds them to death. Keeping the laws in your own strength causes pride, and pride always goes before the fall.

      The only way to receive salvation is through what Jesus did. There’s no amount of religion and rules that can bring us closer to God. Jesus is our connection. Jesus is our strength, and Jesus makes us righteous.

      It says in scripture that the righteousness of man is as filthy rags. Yet through what Jesus did, we are able to stand righteously before our Father God in heaven.
